Grand pianos range in size from a 5' baby grand that easily tucks into the corner of your living room, all the way up to 9' (or longer) concert grands. The grand piano action is more sophisticated than that of an upright, which means faster response and repetition, more precise touch, and more room for the kind of fine regulation and voicing that makes a piano feel truly delicious to play. That's why I love working on grands.
Tuning is the first step. On my first visit, I'll thoroughly evaluate your piano by inspecting the soundboard, strings, keys, and mechanical components. After I tune it, I'll show you what I found and give you a range of options for deeper care of your instrument — I love sharing and educating if you're interested in understanding your piano more deeply.
Whatever kind of piano you have — old or new, a family heirloom or something you just picked up — I'm happy to schedule a visit and do everything I can to make it sing again.
The right choice for almost every piano, and the best place to start if I haven't seen yours before. Tuning plus whatever else it needs that day — touch, tone, lubrication, minor repairs.
Best as a return visit, once your piano is on a regular tuning schedule and holding well. A straightforward tuning — nothing more needed.
Touch regulation, voicing, action work, and larger repairs and reconditioning — I'm happy to take it on. Start with a visit; once I've seen your piano I'll tell you what it needs and what it would cost.
